Welcome to Inkhound — a native macOS app that is a WYSIWYG editor for Apple Mail HTML signatures. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Inkhound. They explain your rights and responsibilities, what you can expect from the app, and important limitations. By using Inkhound, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the app.

1. What Inkhound Does (and Doesn't Do)

Inkhound lets you design an HTML e-mail signature with a WYSIWYG editor and saves it directly into Apple Mail's own signature storage on your Mac — the iCloud Drive Mail folder and/or ~/Library/Mail, wherever you grant it access via the folder picker. To apply a saved signature, Inkhound quits and relaunches Apple Mail.

Inkhound has no account, no sign-up, and no server of ours that your signature passes through. Images used in a signature must be hosted elsewhere and referenced by an https:// link; Inkhound does not embed or attach images, because major webmail providers (Gmail, Outlook, and others) do not render embedded or attached images reliably.

Inkhound is a design and file-writing tool. It does not send e-mail, manage your mail accounts, or guarantee how any particular recipient's mail client will render your signature — rendering ultimately depends on the recipient's software, which is outside Inkhound's control.

2. Who Can Use Inkhound

Inkhound is intended for users aged 16 and older. If you're younger than that, you need the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

No account or registration exists. Your use of Inkhound must comply with all applicable laws in your country.

3. Using Inkhound

You're welcome to use Inkhound to design and manage signatures for mailboxes you control. Please don't misuse the app. That means:

• Don't try to break, reverse engineer, or abuse the app or the Mac App Store distribution it relies on.
• Don't use Inkhound to write signature content that is illegal, infringing, or that you have no right to use (for example, images or logos you don't hold rights to).
• Don't use Inkhound to write to mail data you're not authorized to modify — only grant it access to folders you own or are permitted to manage.

4. License: Personal Use, Business License

Personal use of Inkhound is free. You may design and save as many signatures as you like for your own, personal mailboxes at no cost and with no time limit.

Business use — using Inkhound with a company or organisation mailbox, or otherwise in the course of business — requires a Business license: a one-time in-app purchase of USD 3.99 (your local price, inclusive of any applicable tax, is shown in the Mac App Store before purchase). The Business license is per user: every individual within an organisation who uses Inkhound for business purposes needs their own license. Purchases are made and billed entirely through the Mac App Store and are subject to Apple's own terms and refund policies; we never see your payment details.

The Business license is not technically enforced. Inkhound does not restrict, gate, disable, or time-limit any feature based on license status. Instead, the app shows a "Business use" badge when a signature is assigned to a mail account whose domain is not a recognised personal mailbox provider, as a reminder that a Business license applies. Whether and when to purchase it is left to your own honesty and judgment; we trust you to do the right thing.

If you already own a Business license and reinstall Inkhound or move to a new Mac, use Restore Purchases in the app to recover it, subject to Apple's standard rules for restoring purchases to the Apple ID that made them.

5. Service Availability and Changes

Inkhound is maintained by a single developer. We do our best to keep it working well, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted operation, and there may be bugs or updates that change behaviour over time. Because Inkhound writes directly into files that live on your Mac and are owned by you, your signatures remain yours and remain readable/editable by Apple Mail even if Inkhound is ever discontinued.

6. Your Privacy

Inkhound has no accounts, and signature content is never transmitted to us — it is written only to the local Mail storage you grant access to. Anonymous, aggregate analytics (app opens, save events, license status, and the domain part of configured Mail accounts) may be collected via PostHog, and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy. Full details are in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement with us.

7. Disclaimer of Warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Inkhound is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We disclaim all warranties including, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

• Inkhound will work perfectly or without error at all times, including when writing to or reading from Apple Mail's storage;
• A saved signature will render identically across every mail client or webmail provider your recipients use;
• Your use of the app will be uninterrupted or free of conflicts with future changes Apple makes to Mail's internal storage format.

You use Inkhound at your own risk.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we (Vitalii Rizo and any persons involved in operating Inkhound) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of profits, misrendered or lost signatures, or third-party actions. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Inkhound shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or €100 (one hundred euros), whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted by applicable law. If you qualify as a consumer under mandatory consumer protection laws (e.g. in the EU), your statutory rights remain unaffected to the extent that they cannot be lawfully limited.

9. Interaction with Apple Mail

Inkhound quits and relaunches Apple Mail as part of saving a signature, and reads from and writes to Mail's own signature storage. This integration depends on the structure of that storage as defined by Apple, which we do not control and which can change in future macOS or Mail releases. We aim to keep Inkhound compatible with current macOS versions but cannot guarantee compatibility with future changes on Apple's part.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the app shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Berlin, Germany, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise or give you the right to bring proceedings in your place of residence. We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG).

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect legal, technical, or product changes. We will post the updated Terms here and update the "last updated" date. If we make a significant change, we will use reasonable means to notify you through the app. Your continued use of Inkhound after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
