Inkhound

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-02

Thank you for using Inkhound (the "Service"), a native macOS app for designing Apple Mail HTML signatures. This Privacy Policy explains what data Inkhound processes, what it deliberately does not collect, and your rights. The short version: Inkhound has no accounts, your signature content never leaves your Mac, and the only data sent anywhere is anonymous, aggregate product analytics that you can switch off in Settings.

Data Controller and Contact

The Service is operated by Vitalii Rizo. For the purposes of data protection laws (such as the EU GDPR), Vitalii Rizo is the "Data Controller" of any personal data processed in connection with Inkhound. You can contact the Data Controller at:

What Inkhound Does Not Collect

How Inkhound Writes Your Signature

When you save a signature, Inkhound writes it directly into Apple Mail's own signature storage on your Mac — the iCloud Drive Mail folder and/or ~/Library/Mail — using access you grant via the standard macOS folder picker, then quits and relaunches Apple Mail so the signature takes effect. This is a local file operation. No signature data is transmitted to us or to any third party as part of this process.

Images used inside a signature are referenced by https:// link rather than embedded, so when Mail sends a message, the image is fetched by the recipient's mail client directly from wherever you hosted it — not from us.

Analytics

Inkhound uses PostHog (EU Cloud, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany) for basic, anonymous product analytics, identified only by a random device identifier that is not tied to your name, Apple ID, or e-mail address. It can be switched off entirely in Settings → Privacy.

What's collected, when analytics is on:

Never collected, under any circumstances, via analytics: signature contents, names, or full e-mail addresses.

Analytics data is retained in PostHog for up to one year, after which it expires automatically.

This Website

The website you're reading now (signature.vrizo.net) sets no cookies, uses no analytics, loads no trackers, and pulls in no external fonts or scripts. If you use the dark/light toggle in the header, your choice is remembered only in your browser's local storage on this device — nothing is sent to us.

Third-Party Processors

Where processing happens outside the EU, recognised safeguards apply (Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent framework).

Data Retention

Your Rights

Under GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability. Because Inkhound keeps no account and analytics is keyed to an anonymous device identifier rather than your identity, there is usually nothing server-side we can tie to a specific person — but if you have any request or question, contact vitalii.rizo@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (for example, the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection).

Children's Privacy

Inkhound is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly process personal data of anyone under 16; since we keep no accounts and no content linked to any person, exposure is minimal by design.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates are posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
